The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), is hosting the conference aimed at promoting Customs mutual recognition and coordination of AEO systems, sharing AEO related best practices, boosting inclusive and sustainable global trade and further strengthening bilateral Customs cooperation.
The Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal people’s Government, Mr. Qin Weizhong showcased Shenzhen’s impact to the global trade. He committed the city’s commitment to supporting the AEO program and strengthening cooperation with the global community for continued economic development, liberalization and facilitation.
The Vice Minister of General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wang Lingjun highlighted the commitment of the Chinese government to ensuring the successful implementation of the AEO programme while ensuring the fostering of effective and efficient facilitation of legitimate global trade.
The WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders emphasized the vital role of the AEO programme and the benefits accrued by integrating the micro-small and medium enterprises, enhancing compliance, security, transparency and trust. He called for continued inclusions and gender integration in the AEO framework, considering the role played by women. He called for forward looking analysis of the AEO challenges to manage the Trend, challenges and opportunities to Customs.
Speakers at the 3-day conference include the WCO Chairperson Edward Kieswetter Commissioner South African Revenue Service (SARS) and the WCO ESA ROCB Director Larry Liza, among others.
