Today, the Director, WCO ESA Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB), Ms Josephine Manyasi ‘ndc’(K) joined the World Customs Organization (WCO), during the 2026 WCO Technology Conference and Exhibition. Under the theme “Customs Agility in a Complex World: Securing and Facilitating Trade through Innovation”, the 2026 WCO Technology Conference is taking place from the 28th to 30th January, 2026, in Abu Dhabi to explore how the global Customs community can navigate change with agility, harness innovation to enhance security and protect borders and supply chains, and at the same time drive trade facilitation. The event is hosted by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security of the United Arab Emirates. The conference plays a critical role in aligning technology, policy, and operational realities in Customs ensuring that digitalisation strengthens both trade facilitation and revenue collection. It is also a platform for collaboration bringing together customs administrations, border agencies, technology providers, businesses, international organizations, development partners, academia, and other key actors in the global trade environment. The discussions will further dive into how pioneering approaches are shaping the future of trade and border management with thematic areas of discussion focusing on how modern standards, data-driven cooperation, and cutting-edge solutions support not only the facilitation of legitimate trade, but also the integrity and safety of global supply chains.
