The 2025 FIATA RAME Field Meeting is underway in Zanzibar, bringing together key stakeholders in logistics and trade across the region. The event was officially opened by the Guest of Honor, H.E. Hemed Suleiman Abdalla, 2nd Vice President of Zanzibar.
Opening and introductory remarks were delivered by Dr. Habiba H. Omar, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure, Communication and Transport, Zanzibar, Hon. Idrissa K. Mustafa, Regional Commissioner, Urban West Zanzibar, Sheikh Omar Mussa, President, Zanzibar Freight Bureau (ZFB), Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, President, FIATA, Hon. Dr. Khalid S. Mohammed (MRC), Minister for Infrastructure, Communication and Transport, Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hon. Prof. Makame M. Mbarawa (MP), Minister for Transport, United Republic of Tanzania.
Key topics being discussed include: Unlocking the potential of Zanzibar and Tanzania’s blue economy through logistics, developing sustainable multimodal transport corridors in Eastern Africa, trade facilitation in the RAME region: Intermodal connectivity and Customs integration, tackling cargo shipping challenges with technology and innovation, empowering emerging markets through digital and financial solutions.
The meeting sets the stage for strategic collaboration and transformative logistics development across the region.
