Opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Josephine Manyasi, NDC (K), who expressed her appreciation to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) for organizing the workshop in collaboration with the WCO ESA ROCB and for providing experts in Customs Valuation. She also extended her gratitude to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) for contributing experts to share their knowledge and support capacity building efforts alongside ZIMRA. She emphasized that the workshop will strengthen compliance within the region and contribute to enhanced revenue collection.
The Chief Guest, Commissioner General Ms. Regina Chinamasa, acknowledged the strong collaboration between ZIMRA, ZRA, and the WCO ESA ROCB. She underscored that building the capacity of staff in revenue and Customs is a cornerstone for achieving national goals, enhancing competitiveness, and addressing the challenges of modernization.
Day One of the Regional Webinar on Customs Valuation was facilitated by Mr. Rex Mbilishi of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), who presented on the topic ‘Treatment Applicable to Transactions Agreed in Cryptocurrencies Not Recognized as Legal Tender.’ Ms. Lillian Musarandega also delivered a presentation on the topic ‘Meaning of the Expression “In Substantially the Same Quantity”‘
