Team Enhancement Seminar in Diani, Kenya

On December 19โ€“20, 2024, the staff of the WCO ESA ROCB participated in a transformative team-enhancement seminar and exercises in Diani, Kenya.

The team held an insightful visit to the Diani Reptiles and Birds Sanctuary. The team gained valuable knowledge on various snake species, including hands-on interactions with some of the friendlier ones. This activity was intended to underscore the importance of stepping outside comfort zones and fostering trust.

The team also ventured into the Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park and Reserve. A boat ride across the Indian Ocean led to an incredible snorkeling experience, showcasing vibrant marine life. The exploration served as a reminder of the power of collaboration and adaptability, much like the thriving ecosystems beneath the oceanโ€™s surface.

This excursions not only strengthened interpersonal bonds but also served as a testament to the value of shared experiences in building cohesion and resilience. Kenyaโ€™s natural beauty provided the perfect environment for reflection and growth, leaving the team motivated and re-energized.

During the seminar, discussions centred on teamwork and cohesion, reflections on the ending year and aspirations for the upcoming 2025. It further discussed continued need for Customs to focus of reinforced significance of preserving natural resources, a shared responsibility for all, outside the traditional role of Customs, further witnessed on how ecosystems thrive through interdependence, drawing parallels to effective teamwork.
