The meeting was honored by the presence of Mr. Sudhamo Lal, Director General of the Mauritius Revenue Authority and ESA Vice Chair, along with Commissioners General and Commissioners from the East and Southern Africa region & Mr. Larry Liza, Director of the Regional Office for Capacity Building.
The meeting was also attended by Commissioners General, Directors of Customs, Directors of Internal Affairs/Integrity/Internal Control Division, Integrity Champions and Integrity Coordinators.
The primary focus was the ESA Code of Conduct on Integrity, developed and adopted by the 30th Governing Council. The Integrity Working Group (WG) has been working on the implementation strategy at both national and regional levels. This includes planning, role assignments for ROCB, VWG leaders, Integrity Champions, and Integrity Coordinators.
As we enter the implementation phase, anticipated to last between six months to a year, the success of the Code will significantly depend on the active support of senior leadership. The purpose of this meeting was to provide an executive overview of the Code, gain senior leadershipโs support, and prepare for the upcoming launch and workshop to ensure effective implementation.
