Mauritius hosting ESA.

The meeting of the WCO ESA RTC Heads, ROCB and the WCO, took place on 5th and 6th May 2022 in Mauritius. The meeting was opened by Mr. Vivikanand Ramburum, the Commissioner for Customs (Mauritius) with remarks from Mr. Larry Liza, the Director of the ROCB as well as Magen Mainikum, the Head of the RTC Mauritius and Director HR Mauritius. This is the first physical meeting of its kind since the COVID-19 pandemic in the region’s endeavour towards return to normalcy, and adopted the hybrid format to enable delegates who were unable to travel to attend the meeting. The meeting was attended by the Heads of the RTC Kenya, RTC Mauritius, RTC South Africa (virtually), RTC Zimbabwe as well as the ROCB, the RILO and the WCO.

RTC Zimbabwe was elected as the chairperson of the grouping for the next one year.

This is the first of three back-to-back regional meetings taking place in the island nation. Others are the Regional Steering Group meeting (9-11 May 2022) and the Governing Council (12 & 13 May 2022).
