The 27th Finance and Governance Committee meeting is underway at the scenic Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Hosted by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority – ZIMRA, the meeting is chaired by Mrs. Ethel Chitanda from Zimbabwe. Heads of Finance from Lesotho and Zambia are in attendance, while Burundi sent its apologies.
Key discussions are centered on the region’s mid-year financial reports, the budget, policy matters, and the implementation of Governing Council decisions.
Mrs. Chitanda welcomed the members to Zimbabwe, provided an update on her report to the ESA Management Committee meeting, and highlighted the expectations for this session. She expressed gratitude to the members for their continued dedication and contributions to strengthening the region’s financial governance.
Mr. Larry Liza, the ROCB Director, gave an overview of the progress in implementing Governing Council resolutions related to finances. He commended the members for their commitment to the committee and the region.
The FGC remains a driving force in shaping the future of financial governance within the World Customs Organization, East and Southern Africa Region.
